Personality:
1) Tell us about who your character is and what someone’s first impression would be upon meeting them.
Aerith appears to be a very upbeat and caring sort of person with lots of spunk and cheerfulness upon first impression. She's quick to encourage others, even strangers, and help them find their own happiness. When confronted with hardship she tries to find the brighter side to things and bring them to light. She also has a playful nature and sometimes teases others to bring out hidden sides or can act a bit like a little gremlin to get into (and out of) trouble. She does not usually do anything with a malicious intent however.

Her curious nature often combines with her sense of adventure to make her want to try new things. She can be very excited and enthusiastic when she gets to do new things or go to new places. Though she's a little scared to leave Midgar for the first time, she also sees it as a challenge to overcome and a new adventure to explore. She holds the desire to one day ride on an airship. She tends to dream big and would love to share them with others. Aerith loves people and tends to see the good in almost everyone, and she's always quick to make new friends along the way.

Upon deeper inspection, Aerith holds a great deal of sadness and loneliness within her as well. Her cheerful demeanor is meant to hold back her sadness due to all the loss in her life and engaged to aid her in helping others find their happiness. She doesn't want anyone to feel left out or alone and wants to encourage them to find their way in life. For her though she misses her deceased mother and knows that she's missing a lot of knowledge about her heritage as a Cetra. Her uniqueness sets her apart from others and makes her feel more alone. She is aware that she acts differently than others and has special abilities that others cannot understand so she tries to hide them or downplay them. She can feel the loss of life whenever someone dies and she can sense the distress of the Planet itself as it's slowly dying. It's a lot to handle and with no one else to truly share it with it weighs heavily on her.

2) What is a driving force your character has? What goals do they have, what motivates them, etc?
Aerith loves people and always wants to help them. She often offers to gather supplies for projects or to search for missing people even when its dangerous. She is driven by this need to encourage, to help, to guide others through their troubles. It makes her feel connected to the people around her and it makes her happy to see others smile genuinely.

Before her death, her biggest goal was to stop Sephiroth and save the Planet. This was a larger extension of her desire to help all people as she could never stand by and watch the world die because of the actions of one. She also knew that she was the only person that could as her Cetra heritage gave her unique abilities and knowledge needed to put a stop to the impending doom he set into motion. So Aerith gathered her courage and kept going, determined to see it through to the very end.

3) What are their flaws as a character? What is something they've messed up, or have done that they regret?
Aerith's perky and enthusiastic nature can sometimes be her most annoying one as well. She can be too pushy or demanding of other people sometimes, dragging them off to do things that she thinks will be exciting whether they want to participate or not. She often means well by wanting to spend time with them and forcing them to try new things, but it can also be overwhelming or annoying to others that aren't used to her or prepared for the thing she drags them into. She often does this to poor Cloud and sometimes other party members as well throughout their time together.

Likewise, she can be too nosy at times and insert herself into conversations or situations that she doesn't necessarily need to get into. Again, she means well, but sometimes it causes trouble for not only her but the people around her as well. Many of her sidequests revolve around her curious nature and the need to help others, and sometimes involve her eavesdropping and asking unwanted questions of complete strangers. In the slums of Midgar, she knew a lot of people and the goings on of the sectors implying that she observed a lot of her surroundings with curiosity and persistence and perhaps was keen to keep up with gossip.

Aerith can also be quite stubborn at times. Once she's made up her mind about what she wants to do it's almost impossible to change it. She worries people sometimes by going to places she shouldn't or running off into dangerous situations. Even if forbidden by her mom, she'll just sneak out at night to do as she pleases.

A lot of Aerith's regret has to do with her death: she regrets not being able to see her mom again, for running off without saying goodbye, for leaving her friends to fight for themselves, and for not even being able to ensure that she had summoned Holy before she died. She wishes she could have helped Cloud more and regrets having left him while he was still struggling with himself. She really focuses on helping others to feel safe and secure and loved, which is beautiful, but also comes at its own cost as well. Sometimes she needs to search her own feelings and let herself cope with what she is and can or cannot do instead of hiding behind the need to help others. If she really took the time to analyze her own emotions she would recognize that she really wishes she could have done so much more with her life and lived a little longer to achieve this list of things she never got to experience.

Additionally, sometimes Aerith wishes she wasn't so different from others and could have lived a normal life. Her heritage made her unique and sometimes she hates that because people can tell that she's different. It hurt her a lot. But it also gave her strength and she got to cherish a lot of special things that others did not. And she did eventually meet people that never cared about her differences and made her feel special for other reasons.

4) Optional: What is something unique and interesting about them, or what is a fun little tidbit that sets them apart from the crowd?
Aerith is the last remaining descendant of the Cetra. Known as the Ancients, the Cetra were an old race of people that used to live upon and nourish the Planet. Their race dwindled and died out after Jenova fell from the sky, leaving Aerith - a half human, half Cetra - as the last of their kind. Aerith retains some of their ancient knowledge in the form of unique abilities and often talks to the Planet.

Abilities:

Horticulture: She's really good with plants.
Magic: Aerith can cast magical spells whenever she equips the appropriate orb of materia.
Combat: Aerith isn't much of a physical fighter, but she is used to battle and can utilize her magic to defend and attack. She uses a staff as both a bludgeoning weapon as well as a focus for her magic.
Limit Breaks: Powerful techniques that Aerith can use in battle when pushed to desperate limits.
Cetra abilities: Aerith has special abilities unique to her alone due to her Cetra heritage. She can commune with the Planet, ask for blessings from it and sensing the deaths of others even from very far away. She can enter dreams and speak with others through them. She can cultivate plants and life in a way others cannot, even growing flowers in an area that it doesn't seem possible. Many of these abilities she's not even really certain how to perform but they seem to happen when she needs them or works really hard at them.

ARMADA SELECTION

Paladin. Aerith is a cheerful and upbeat character whose role can best be described as 'healer/white mage' and the party's personal cheerleader. She loves to help people and listens deeply to them so that she can. The 'order' part of the paladins doesn't matter so much to her, but helping people out and exploring does. Her goals would be to aid her crew mates however she can, protect the land and people that cannot protect themselves, and to explore and learn more about this world. Not only will she fight from the back lines and heal in battle, but she would be one of the types of paladins that goes around studying various plants and animals and ancient artifacts and records it down for future generations.
